Don Koppin – Project Developer
For over a decade, Don’s woodworking career was focused on training mentally challenged adults at A.R.C. Industries to produce quality cedar patio furniture and refinish antiques. He also designed & created unique traditional wooden toys which were exhibited & sold at various art shows far and wide.
Eventually, Don’s woodworking career followed a different path: working for a local contractor on construction projects, specializing in custom trim & finish work, then as a partner with another local craftsman, creating custom cabinetry and a variety of residential and commercial renovation work.
Don eventually became an independent general contractor as owner and president of Don Koppin General Contractor for more than 15 years. As past President of the Haliburton County Homebuilders Association and as a member of the Renovators Council of the OHBA, Don takes advantage of the many opportunities to increase his industry knowledge, skills & resources, particularly about healthy, eco-friendly products, materials and methods. Don is a member of the Lions Club and was the founding catalyst of the Bancroft Sustainable Committee, a group that helped in the planning for the future sustainability of our naturally beautiful community. In 2010, Don was elected a Municipal Councillor in the Town of Bancroft & proudly served one term, helping to make positive changes in the community. Don is proud to be an ongoing participant in and ardent supporter of local events & initiatives, artists and entrepreneurs.
Garry Douglas – Project Development & Sales
Reva Johnston – Estimator
“When people come to us for their building needs, they end up finding a ‘family’ that will stop at nothing to help them have a great experience while seeing their dreams come true.”
Reva joined the KLC family in 2012, bringing with her over 10 years of experience in the renovation industry. She moved to Alberta in the 70’s where there was an amazing amount of employment opportunity. She started as a dicta-typist and moved up the ladder from receptionist, to secretary, to bookkeeper, to estimating. While working at a bathroom renovation company, she discovered she had a flair for interior decorating, which lead her to earn her certificate and become a Certified Interior Decorator.
Reva has worked for small businesses, non-profits, government, and large corporations and has found she enjoys working in a small business environment the most. Throughout her career she has worked alongside owners to help their companies become computerized, more profitable and increase their visibility in the community. In addition to her many responsibilities at KLC, she is excited to be working on bringing more products on site to allow clients to choose from, which is a great help during their decision making process.
Reva is the mother of 3 successful children, has two wonderful grandchildren and one curious Cairn terrier.
Ben Reynolds – Production Manager
Ben comes from a family with a high technical background, and has been involved in the construction field since the age of four. His first job was sanding cabinets and helping with installations in his father’s workshop (being paid well below the minimum wage!). Since his early start in the business, Ben has accumulated over 19 years of construction experience (with 14 of those years devoted to Linwood Post and Beam construction) and has been involved in more than 60 custom home builds. Ben joined the KLC family in 2011, and has found a true home with a talented team of professionals.
Christine Watts – Design Manager/ Senior Designer
Christine is a design specialist, an Architectural Technologist and a graduate of Humber College. When she joined the team in 2003, KLC began providing clients with in-house custom design services. Christine uses state-of-the-art architectural software to create designs that are both innovative and functional, taking client’s ideas and bringing them to life in three-dimensional reality.
Mario Yee – Project Development Manager
Mario has been with KLC since 1997. Holding a degree in Business Administration from Lakehead University, Mario works to ensure our client’s visions become a reality. With past experience in sales management and merchandising, and over 10 years field experience as one of our lead production hands prior to coming into the office, we feel a great deal of pride in the level of skill he brings to his position in project development.
