Architectural services are one of the key offerings of the design/build model. Our Designers (architectural technologists) are BCIN-certified professionals. With years of technical expertise to draw upon, they are adept at creating visually appealing design solutions for your own unique project.
The design/build process implemented at Kawartha Lakes Construction benefits homeowners as it allows for an enhanced, collaborative experience. When you work with the Design & Planning team at Kawartha Lakes Construction, you are involved in the process from the initial stages. You are able to lean on the expertise and knowledge of an entire team to better understand the options for your renovation, addition or custom build.
Choosing to work with an architectural designer who is part of a design/build team serves homeowners in the following ways:
1) Involved in Design Process from Early Stages + Throughout Entire Lifespan of a Project
At KLC, designers work directly with clients from the early stages of planning and design and all the way through the construction phase.
Here at KLC, a designer is assigned to a client when they sign a design agreement and is involved throughout the entire life span of the project, working with their client and fellow team members to bring the ideal solution to life. It is extremely gratifying for our Design team members to be able to work on a project right from the very beginning to the very end and see their efforts come to life.
2) Collaboration + Communication with Construction Team
Our Designers have the benefit of strong collaboration and ease of communication with our Production crews. Design and Production teams are constantly in touch. This consistent access to the Production crew is obviously a huge benefit to a homeowner. It makes working through any issues that arise much more seamless and efficient. In comparison, when a job has been approached by a separate architect and bid out to multiple contractors, a disconnect in communication is common and can lead to lengthy disruptions & broken messages when it comes to the construction phase.
Architectural designers at KLC get the opportunity to frequently visit job sites and watch their 2D plans and 3D drawings transform into reality.
3) Relationships with Building Officials & Construction Professionals
Since we’ve assembled such a diverse team, everyone brings their own valuable perspective to the table. Our Designers have a solid team to lean on when presented with unique job site specific issues or design challenges.
Furthermore, our Designers have worked with local townships and building officials for years. They are in consistent communication with these professionals and meet them frequently throughout the year at local meetings. Familiarity with local by-laws, the Ontario Code and a connection with local officials brings huge value to a homeowner’s project planning.
